Derrick Coombes has been a resident of Streatham and Tooting most of his life. Here he talks to Anna Jones about his childhood memories of the area, his experiences during the 2nd World War and the events that followed. Despite some difficult times, Derrick is proud of what he has achieved, working with his brother as a decorator and then as a postman for 22 years. He has an extended family and is proud of his great grandchildren. Derrick enjoys retirement but likes to keep busy doing voluntary work at St Georges Hospital and helping out at St James Church and the Furzedown Project.| Part 1 Before the Second World War |
