Ellis Cory was born and brought up in Furzedown and has lived here all his life, marrying and bringing up a family in Penwortham Road. In this absorbing interview he describes his childhood, his schooldays and his memories of the local area, its shops and buildings. Among so many other fascinating details about life in post-war South London, are memories of playing marbles in the gutters of Welham Road , on his way to or from school, and of the shops and post-war ‘pre-fabs’ of Moyser Road.
